Features
The Asian Resources Room collects and provides materials and information concerning East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.
We provides on-site services including reader services, photocopying, and reference services, and remote services such as interlibrary loans, mailing of photocopied materials, and reference services via mail or phone as well.
We are also committed to information services like AsiaLinks (Asia-related web links) and cooperation with organizations in Japan that provide information about Asia.
Reading room
The Asian Resources Room is in the reading room on the first basement level of the Kansai-Kan of the National Diet Library, being a part of a big reading room together with the General Collections Room that holds about 90,000 volumes of home and foreign reference books.
There are 82 out of 346 seats allocated to the Asian Resources Room. Visitors can use computers to access the NDL-OPAC ; CD-ROMs ; and electronic journals, including the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) Database.
Collections
Asian Resources Room stores around 300,000 books, 7,500 titles of serials. About 30,000 volumes of reference books and basic books, and 1,000 titles of magazines and newspapers are on open shelves.
