Verner W. Clapp Collection

This is a collection of library-related materials for reference assembled by Verner W. Clapp (1901-1972), who was heavily instrumental in the founding of the National Diet Library, was a former chief assistant librarian of the Library of Congress, and the first president of the Council on Library Resources. This library received a bequest of approximately 600 items in 1973.

The bequest is composed of Western language books and leaflets concerning bibliography, cataloging, classification, copyright laws, and materials preservation, etc. "(Annual) report of the Librarian of Congress" from 1866-1971, and Clapp's own writings are included among these items.
