アメリカの議会では、常任委員会の小委員会の場で、政府・民間の関係者を呼んで公聴会 (Hearing)を頻繁に行っています
公聴会の記録には、公聴会での発言の速記以外に、提出された証言書・書類・関係資料等が収められ、審議された問題についての重要な資料となっています

当室では、19世紀前半の議会からの公聴会記録をマイクロフィッシュ版で、1950年代以降の公聴会記録を現物およびマイクロフィッシュ版で所蔵しています(請求記号は委員会ごとに異なります)

Congress.govの HPでは、103議会(1993-94)以降の Committee Hearingsを、govinfo の HPでは、85議会(1957-)以降の Committee Hearingsをみることができます（85th-103rdは選択的）。

上・下院の委員会および両院協議会は、法律案を審査して本会議に上程する際に報告書を添付します
この報告書は、それぞれ Senate Report, House Report, Conference Report として刊行されます
これらの Reports には、各院ごと・会期ごとに、1から番号がふられています

当室では、16議会(1819年)以降の報告書を所蔵しています(上院 / BU-8-2, 下院 / BU-8-1)

また、上院の外交委員会が条約批准のために行った審査の報告書は、Senate Treaty Report (Senate Executive Report)として刊行されます
条約の条文は Senate Treaty Documents に収められています
