歴史
民間財産管理局（CPC）は、正式には1946年3月8日に設置された（一般命令第10号）が、同年後半まで実質的な活動は開始されなかった。同局は、日本に所在する連合国・中立国等の財産の保全、解散させた超国家主義的な団体や戦犯容疑者等の財産および日本国内の枢軸国の財産の封鎖・管理・処分、日本国内の日本人の外国為替・在外資産の探索・管理を任務とした。1948年12月には賠償局が廃止され、賠償（中間賠償）にあてるための日本の産業設備の搬出の任務がCPCに移管された（一般命令第16号）。

当館では、米国国立公文書館（NARA）でマイクロフィルムに撮影し、作製したマイクロフィッシュを1989～1991及び1993年度に受け入れた。
